The Mainland summer films have performed rather well at the box office. The Eric Tsang Chi Wai and Sandra Ng Kwan Yu starred MONSTER HUNT as of yesterday already reached 1.27 billion RMB and passed LOST IN THAILAND's 2012 record of 1.268 billion RMB to become the new Chinese film box office champion. The 20 million yuan JIAN BING MAN so far has made 820 million yuan, its investment return was only second to LOST IN THAILAND, but next week it would hopefully become the most profitable film in Chinese film history. After three weeks in release MONKEY KING HERO IS BACK made 640 million yuan, which passed the 2011 release of KUNG FU PANDA 2 and its 617 million yuan to become the highest grossing animated film in the Chinese market.
