Classic Hong Kong film CITY ON FIRE (LUNG FU FUNG WON), PRISON ON FIRE (GAM YUK FUNG WON) and SCHOOL ON FIRE (HOK HAU FUNG WON) director Ringo Lam Lan Tung will receive the New York Asian Film Festival Lifetime Achievement Award for his outstanding achievements and contributions. For example his films depicted traces of Hong Kong eras, with the portrayal of characters' humanities they created many social topics. After 7 years away he returned with the film WILD CITY (MAI SING) with Louis Koo Tin Lok and Shawn Yue Man Lok. Director Lam aimed his camera deliberately at different layers of Hong Kong, from car chases, gang fights, to explosions nothing was missed. The Central chase scene even needed government assistance with road blocks to bring Hong Kong viewers impactful realism!

  1. Thank you very much to Camille for catching our error in the article; Mr. Ringo Lam has been properly credited as the award recipient. We apologize to our readers, Mr. Ringo Lam and Mr. Dante Lam for any inconvenience the error may have caused.

  2. Seems like a very good chance the NYAFF will also be screening WILD CITY--the Taipei Film Festival (which runs more or less concurrently with the NYAFF) just announced they'll be hosting the film's "Asian premiere," necessarily implying the world premiere will be held somewhere outside Asia. The NYAFF is certainly the most logical venue for that.
