Nick Cheung Ka Fai's directing debut, HUNGRY GHOST RITUALS (YU LAN SUN GUNG), after releasing its first 30 second theatrical trailer recently made paper dolls in the likeness of leads Ka Fai and Annie Liu (Lau Sum Yau) and placed them in the cinemas. Some viewers went for a closer look and some repeatedly said, "Jinx!" Although they became paper dolls, Ka Fai had no taboo and even joked that the doll looked 90% like him. The film company this time asked a paper offering master to "tailor" the paper version of Ka Fai and Sum Yau. Ka Fai after seeing his paper doll at the studio was neither resistant nor scared. He even praised the decent craftsmanship and resemblance, but he could not realize the paper Sum Yau next to his. He even joked, "Maybe because I look like a paper doll, so the result is more realistic."

Without any taboo, Ka Fai even put the dolls together and looked at them in detail. He attentively looked for a good spot for the photographer to take photos. Instead the crew was worried for him and prepared laisee for him. He said that often shoots would take place in some remote mountain side or some dark places like the cemetery, but as long as he watched what he said and did he was fine. He believed that friends in the netherworld also knew that they were only making a movie. Ka Fai even revealed that during the paper doll production, a worker was suspected of "catching something" and felt ill. However Ka Fai used reason and logic to explain this and did not feel scared.
