The 33rd Hong Kong Film Award will officially take place in five days. Today let's take a look at the Best Supporting Actress nominees, including AMERICAN DREAMS IN CHINA's Du Juan, YOUNG DETECTIVE DEE AND RISE OF THE SEA DRAGON's Carina Lau Ka Ling, THE WHITE STORM (SO DUK)'s Helena Law Lan, UNBEATABLE (GIK JIN)'s Crystal Lee and RIGOR MORTIS (GEUNG SI)'s Kara Wai Ying Hung. The 10 year old Crystal Lee is the youngest nominee.

Even though peony is good, it still needs support from green leaves. If film supporting actors can serve as support in an appropriate time, the lead's performance has even more layers and depth and elevates the film flavor. This time the Hong Kong Film Award Best Supporting Actress nominees are all choices of substance. The most eye catching has to be the just 10 year old Crystal Lee. She may look young but Crystal earlier at the 16th Shanghai International Film Festival already became the youngest Best Actress. Her performance in UNBEATABLE left a deep impression. Her relationship with Nick Cheung Ka Fai was like father and daughter and a friendship that touched people. The Best Actress this time was "demoted" to compete for Best Supporting Actress, all the sisters, aunts and grannies would have to careful.

Model Du Juan's silver screen debut immediately granted her the Best New Actor and Best Supporting Actress nominations. Her acting received certain recognition, but with the other nominees her chance of winning was low. As for Wai Ying Hung, Law Lan and Lau Ka Ling they were all Best Actresses. Their substance naturally was beyond extraordinary. Ka Ling in 2001 with DETECTIVE DEE AND THE MYSTERY OF THE PHANTOM FLAME's Wu Zetian won Best Actress, who knows if this year she will win Best Supporting Actress with the same role.

Law Lan in THE WHITE STORM played Cheung Ka Fai's mother with Alzheimer's disease. Although her role did not have a lot of screen time it brought life to the film, so viewers deeply experienced Ka Fai, Sean Lau Ching Wan and Louis Koo Tin Lok's brotherhood in the film. Wai Ying Hung in RIGOR MORTIS played a crazy lady Yeung Fung who could not go home after suffering from severe trauma and sent chills to the spine. Seemingly the Supporting Actress competition would give the jury quite a headache.

Eric Tsang Chi Wai, Simon Yam Tat Wa and director Andrew Lau Wai Keung were interviewed. For this year's Supporting Actress competition, Brother Wa and Lau Wai Keung both picked Wai Ying Hung. Lau Wai Keung praised Siu Hung's performance as very good and absolutely could be nominated for Best Actress. "I have known her for years. Her performance has always been good, actually she should be nominated for Best Actress. In RIGOR MORTIS her performance was very in depth and had extraordinary acting. In addition she gave a lot and is a serious actress. I admire her seriousness the most." Brother Wa also praised Siu Hung's performance as outstanding, if she won she definitely deserved it. Chi Wai chose Ka Ling and said that Ka Ling was able to rein in the character. In addition they have been friends for years, he absolutely would support her.
