Director Fruit Chan Gor two nights ago led the film THE MIDNIGHT AFTER (NA YEH LING SUN, NGOR JOR SEUNG LIU WONG GOK HOI WONG DAI BO DIK HUNG VAN) cast to attend the 38th Hong Kong International Film Festival. The next morning he again led them to take a light bus from the Convention center to Lan Kwai Fong to attend a party. The film became one of this film festival's opening films, Janice Man Wing Shan and Kara Wai Ying Hung saw the premiere response was more enthusiastic than its Berlin Film Festival screening and were very excited. They even stated that the entire cast would be willing to invest their salary into a sequel, but Chan Gor turned them down. He admitted that this time the actors did not charge their full film rate, which he was already sorry about. As for the sequel it would depend on the box office.

When they arrived pedestrians fought for photos. Simon Yam Tat Wa, Janice Man and Wai Ying Hung were the most popular. Brother Wa left quickly after a group photo with everyone. Janice Man and Wai Ying Hung said that it was their first time watching the complete version. The entire cast thought it was hilarious as they watched it. When they got to the sentimental spot near the end, they both got teary eyed. With the film's supposed political metaphors, were they worried that their Mainland work would be affected? Wai Ying Hung said, "No! There are metaphors but they aren't too sensitive. Basically this is a comedy." Janice Man said that the film subject would not be too sensitive either.

Chan Gor mentioned that the film was accused of having political metaphors, he joked that he had to watch it himself to experience them. He revealed that the Hong Kong version was different from the Berlin Film Festival version, with over two minutes cut out. However he stressed that he did not deliberately cut out sensitive lines, he only wanted to make the story more intense. Was he worried that no co-production would ask him to direct? He said, "Everyone's interpretation was different. I don't feel it is, it's just talking about current topics. Everyone would have different opinions after watching."
