[2013.12.28] FIRESTORM TOPS THE CHRISTMAS BOX OFFICE WITH 7 MILLION

As the Christmas holiday came to an end, the Motion Picture Industry Association summed up the December 24th to 26th film box office with an increase from last year's. This year the total box office was HK$32,542,157, a 10.98% increase from HK$29,322,462 in the same period last time.

This Christmas the only Hong Kong film release was the Andy Lau Tak Wa starred FIRESTORM (FUNG BO), but at the box office it was still able to top the 3 day Christmas slot with over 7 million. Its cumulative box office has already reached 17 million. In second and third place were FROZEN and THE HOBBIT: THE DESOLATION OF SMAUG. The former made 4.7 million over three days, and the latter made 4.4 million. Their cumulative box office were 10 million and 25 million respectively. The Sean Lau Ching Wan, Nick Cheung Ka Fai and Louis Koo Tin Lok starred THE WHITE STORM (SO DUK) has already been in release for 22 days but over the 3 day Christmas holiday it still made 1.9 million. Its cumulative box office was 28,928,803.
