[2011.03.31] TERRY LAI RECEIVES LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

The 30th Hong Kong Film Award press conference was held yesterday at the Cultural Center. Guests included Hong Kong Film Award Association vice chair Eric Tsang Chi Wai, Fiona Sit Hoi Kei, Derek Kwok Chi Kin, Dante Lam Chiu Yin and Hanjin Tan (Chen Woon Yan). Two Best Actor and Best Actress covers were unveiled as the guests conducted an unveiling ceremony for the event program.

Tsang Chi Wai and Carina Lau Ka Ling received sponsorship from Piaget for the event that night and announced that Wyman Wong Wai Man would select the Best Dressed Award winners. Piaget would present jewelry to the Best Dressed winners that night. The event would present the Lifetime Achievement Award to Terry Lai for her global promotions of local kung fu films in the 60s and the 70s, in the 90s she even actively participated in the anti piracy movement and at the same time successfully set up the film rating system. The "Professional Spirit Award" winner this year would be experienced industry manager Willie Chan Chi Keung. Stars who became so at the hands of Chan Chi Keung included Jackie Chan, Cherie Chung Chor Hung, Carol Cheng Yui Ling, Jacky Cheung Hok Yau and Daniel Wu (Ng Yin Cho).

First time Best Actress nominee Sit Hoi Kei said, this year was the first she posed for the Hong Kong Film Award event program. The photographer also shot her first record cover and made it even more meaningful. She said, "The director asked us to interpret the nominated character's spirit and aura, some were stylish, some were cool, my image in the film was happy. During the shoot I wasn't nervous but was somewhat excited. However I wouldn't sell sex, it was primarily pretty." She said that she was rather happy about this nomination, but she picked Lau Ka Ling to win.
