Veteran film professional Fung Lam passed away last month. Yesterday Sil-Metropole and South China Film Industry Workers Union held a memorial event for her at a Kowloon Bay cinema. Several hundred attended including the Basic Law Committee vice chair Elsie Leung Oi-sie, Fong Ping and his wife Paw Hee Ching, Kong Ngai, Pak Yan, Chow Chung and Kong Han.

The memorial began with a minute of silence as the audience rose to the feet, then came eulogies and talks about her life. The entire memorial lasted half a hour. Trained under Fung Lam, Sister Paw expressed that although she has never worked with her, she has known her all her life because her parents were good friends with her. Sister Paw also revealed Fung Lam's nickname was "Telephone" because she liked to talk on the phone and her last name was Fung. Sister Paw said, "I feel very sad about her passing. She donated her remain for university study use, which is very rare. She is an elder who is very worthy of learning from."
