Vicki Zhao Wei has avoided public events after rumored to be carrying the child of a Mainland businessman. During the Lunar New Year when her film 14 BLADES (GUM YI WAI) was released she was absent from all its promotions.

Yesterday Zhao Wei reportedly gave birth to a daughter in Singapore. Her manager Chen Rong represented Zhao Wei and announced the good news on Sina Entertainment. She pointed out, "Zhao Wei is fine, happy and fortunate! Zhao Wei and her family thank everyone for their well wishes!" As for information about the baby girl, Chen Rong did not make any statement. All along Zhao Wei's expectant date was at the end of May at its latest, now she gave birth in mid April likely due to a premature birth or c-section.

Hong Kong Film Award will take place on the 18th. Zhao Wei was nominated for Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress. Earlier when the nominees posed for the event program, Zhao Wei was the only one absent. Seemingly because Zhao Wei was about to give birth so she did not come to Hong Kong for the shoot. Earlier Zhao Wei was rumored to be attending the event, now that will seem unlikely. Zhao Wei never revealed whether she was married to the baby's father. Earlier in an interview she even revealed that she was quite distant from marrying into a wealthy life.
